Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my road trip itinerary?

After purchase, you’ll receive a downloadable digital PDF containing your road trip itinerary, including an overview map, daily driving distances, and direct links to open each route in Google Maps for turn-by-turn navigation.

How do I use the route on my phone?

Each itinerary includes direct “one-click” Google Maps links. Simply tap the 🚗 icon within your PDF to launch the route in the Google Maps app and begin navigation. Additional tips are included in the PDF to help you get the most out of your digital itinerary.

If the route has mountain passes on it, how do I check if they're open?

Pass openings vary annually based on weather conditions. While it is the traveller's responsibility to verify road status, we make it easier by providing a Mountain Passes page to check restrictions before you set off. Your itinerary will also include dedicated information and links tailored specifically for your route.

Can you book hotels, ferries, and other tickets for me?

No. We focus on creating expertly designed driving routes and itineraries, while you retain full control over booking hotels, ferries, and travel dates.

Do the optional hotels listed in the Full Itinerary all have parking?

Hotels with parking available are marked with a 🅿️ icon. For hotels without on-site parking, we have highlighted a nearby alternative for you, where applicable.

Can I get an accessible version?

Yes. We offer screen-reader accessible versions of our itineraries upon request. Please contact us before purchasing so we can arrange this for you.

Can I get an itinerary in another language?

While our standard packs are in English, we can provide translated versions upon request. Please contact us before purchasing to discuss your language requirements.

Are these routes suitable for all drivers?

Yes. Our routes are designed to be enjoyable and accessible, with a mix of relaxed scenic drives and more engaging roads depending on the route.

Are the routes suitable for motorcycles?

Yes, all of our routes are suitable for motorcycles unless stated otherwise. However, for certain routes—especially those involving mountain passes—riders should be experienced and prepared for tight switchbacks, steep gradients, and rapidly changing weather conditions.

Can I book a driving route for multiple vehicles or a group trip?

Yes. Ultimate Routes can accommodate group bookings and multiple vehicles traveling together. If you are planning a group road trip or a driving event, we can help. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements in more detail.

Which is more technical: the Bealach na Bà or the Conor Pass?

The Bealach na Bà is steeper and more 'Alpine' in feel, whereas the Conor Pass offers more narrow, rugged coastal hairpins. Both are essential for any European driving bucket list.
